Lynda Carter, CA

Lynda Carter began her career at Scott, Rankin & Gardiner LLP shortly after graduating with her Honours Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Ottawa. She subsequently earned her CA designation, placing 6th in the Ottawa area on the nation wide Uniform Final Exam. After seven years in various roles at the firm, Lynda was appointed a partner in 2004.

Over her tenure at SR&G, Lynda has earned an excellent reputation for her professionalism and ability to meet stringent deadlines. She works hard to address her clients’ needs and exceed their expectations. Lynda is known for her attention to detail and extensive knowledge of owner-managed businesses, especially owner-manager compensation planning and corporate taxation. Her clients include small and mid-sized owner-managed companies and non-profit organizations, as well as partners in professional firms.

In October 2007, Lynda was awarded the Professional Service Person of the Year award from the Nepean Chamber of Commerce. This honour exemplifies Lynda’s outstanding client service and commitment to her clients.

In response to the Quality Control Standards developed by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, Scott, Rankin & Gardiner LLP has developed a service for fellow CA firms to assist them in meeting these requirements. These services include engagement level file quality review, firm level monitoring, and quality control standard development. Since the beginning of her career as a public accountant, Lynda has continually improved her expertise and skills as a professional. She has successfully completed the Canadian Securities Course and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Income Tax Practice course. In addition, Lynda also attends various professional development courses conducted by the ICAO in the areas of taxation, not-for-profit organizations, and auditing techniques.

Over the past ten years, Lynda has filled various Board roles, including Treasurer, President and currently, Past-President at Mothercraft Ottawa. Lynda has devoted many hours to this non-profit agency that provides much needed services to meet the changing needs of Ottawa’s families.

Lynda is also actively involved with the Women’s Business Network. As a member of the Nominating and Awards committee, she is an integral part of the process which results in the finalists for the prestigious Business Woman of the Year awards.

Lynda grew up on the family farm near Chatham, Ontario and continues to value her rural roots. She currently lives near Carp with her family.
